Dr Pav Nanayakkara
Dr Pav Nanayakkara joins Agora as the Fellow in Advanced Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy for 2019.
She grew up in regional Queensland and was inspired to pursue a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by an exceptional surgeon who provided truly wonderful holistic care to his patients in the rural setting. Her medical degree was acquired at Monash University, Melbourne after which she completed an honours year in research as a scholar of the RANZCOG Research Foundation. She undertook her internship and residency at The Alfred Hospital and also trained in Intensive Care there prior to her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at The Royal Women’s Hospital. Pav achieved her DRANZCOG qualification in 2011 and completed specialist examinations in 2015 and 2016.
Pav is passionate about Women’s Health and is founder and director of “The Birth Bundle Project”, an initiative providing birthing kits to hospitals in developing countries. Pav has an enthusiasm for teaching and has held teaching positions with Monash University and the University of Melbourne. In 2018, she was the recipient of the Women’s Health “Inspire Me” Mentor of the Year award from Monash University in recognition of her dedication as a mentor, outstanding willingness to share knowledge and for inspiring the next generation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
In her spare time, Pav loves cooking, travelling, hiking and going on adventures with her husband and two incredible children.
